And we're off! HONK NYC!, the after-party to Mama HONK! in Somerville/Boston and Providence's PRONK! is BACK! October 13 - 18 in New York City. Coordinated by members of Hungry March Band with help from our friends and colleagues, the fest will present over a dozen concerts. The goal this year is high - $10,000 - but, we've got 80 people coming in from out-of-town, in addition to ten local bands performing during the course of the fest. Let's DO IT!

PSA: One of Hungry March Band's greatest friends in New York City is artist Jeff Stark, founder of the Nonsense NYC list. In fact, the story is that he started the Nonsense NYC event list just so he would know where Hungry March Band was playing. At this very moment Jeff, and score of other artists HMB knows very well, are teaming up to produce a gigantic, site-specific piece of immersive theatre on the Gowanus Canal. It's called The Dreary Coast. We're certain it's going to be spectacular! We want you all to know about it, and, we ask that you consider making a small contribution to the project's funding campaign. They are trying to raise $24,000 and have a little over a day to make their goal. Please check out their Kickstarter. And a big thank you to Jeff and the Nonsense folks for helping Hungry March Band reach so many people all these years! We love you and wish you much success, Mr. Stark!

A note from HMB dancer Sara V.: HONK! Festival of Activist Street Bands - or, "Mama HONK!," as I call this event, is near to the end of its fundraising campaign for 2014. HONK!, which takes place in Somerville, MA, is THE festival that brought together "orphaned" radical street bands from around North America for the first time ever in 2006. HONK! has since spawned five sister-fests around the U.S., and has inspired many many people to make music together in the streets. I can assure you that HONK NYC! would not exist were it not for the efforts of the great organizing committee of "Mama" HONK! Please consider showing them some support. They are so close to their goal!!!
